Beetroot Paratha for a healthy and glowing skin!

Hey Everyone!

Beetroot Paratha
Beetroot Paratha

Let me start off by saying I am not a big fan of Beetroots and my memories of having beetroot consists of having beetroot and carrot juice which my dad would make himself adding bits and pieces of tomatoes or ginger or mint leaves whichever was left in the fridge. I have had this juice every single day for 5 years of my college life! Though initially I didn't really like the taste but since the health benefits clearly out rated the taste my tongue got used to it :) One of the main reasons dad started with this routine was due to my extremely low iron and hemoglobin level which triggered n number of problems like migraine attacks and low immune level to fight diseases etc. All thanks to my dad and his routine that my hemoglobin level came back to normal and still its the same way.

After I started working due to hectic lifestyle and travelling I couldn't continue with this routine but recently I have again started incorporating beetroots in my diet. I am sure we all are aware of how good beetroots are for our body and for all of you who aren't aware google is always there :) Beetroots helps with anaemia, fights cholesterol, keeps diabetes in check, helps reducing blood pressure, fights cancer, helps in brain development and also helps with constipation and stomach related problems! So now you know why beetroot is so healthy and why we should incorporate it more in our eating habits.

So today I'll be sharing one of my favorite ways to incorporate beetroot in my diet and that is by making some homemade delicious Beetroot parathas! So lets get started with the recipe

Beetroot Paratha
Recipe Serves 2
Ingredients List:-
-> 1 big beetroot, peeled and grated
-> 1 - 2 cups of whole wheat flour (atta)
-> 1 green chili chopped finely
-> 1 tsp coriander powder
-> 1 tsp cumin powder
-> 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
-> 1/2 tsp red chili powder
-> 1 tbsp oil
-> Salt as per taste
-> 1 tbsp sesame seeds
-> 1 tbsp jaggery finely chopped or powdered (pls don't use sugar)

Oil for cooking parathas

Procedure:-
  • Mix together grated beetroot and all spices, mix well using your hands. This will ensure that jaggery pieces are melted and mixed well with other spices.
  • Now add 1-2 cups of whole wheat flour and knead a dough. You will not be required to use water for kneading since beetroot is high on water content.
  • Make lemon sized balls of the dough and using a rolling pin and board roll the balls into flat breads similar to rotis
  • Cook the flatbread on hot pan drizzling few drops of oil on each side while cooking.
  • Cook for 2 to 3 mins until both the sized are cooked properly
  • Serve hot with curd and pickle

I hope you will try this recipe and incorporate more beetroots in your diet. The parathas are healthy and very appropriate when you want something real quick and healthy at the same time. They are perfect for morning breakfast or easy dinner. I also prefer to take these to office in my tiffin, its a great way for all the mothers to incorporate beetroots in their kids routine with these healthy parathas, wrap them in a jam and put into their lunchboxes and voila!

Do leave your comments and questions below and I'll be happy to answer them. Until next time take care and stay healthy!
